RENDER actively participated in the Youth Sustainability Forum (YSF) 2024 on August 17-21, 2024 in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. YSF is a pivotal event focused on empowering young leaders, activists, and experts in advancing sustainable development and environmental conservation across ASEAN.
YSF 2024 was designed to inspire youth engagement and drive impactful climate initiatives through a series of sessions, keynote addresses, and interactive workshops. The event emphasized inclusivity and the importance of integrating diverse cultural and local perspectives into sustainability discourse, ensuring that all voices, particularly those from vulnerable communities, were represented. Throughout the forum, discussions highlighted the need for youth-inclusive policies that directly address environmental challenges. This was underscored during policy advocacy sessions where participants, including government officials and ministers, explored ways to create policies that reflect the needs and perspectives of young people.

A key objective of the forum was to enhance regional cooperation among ASEAN youth representatives. Panel Sessions promoting international collaboration focused on strengthening networks across borders to address global environmental issues collectively.
The Philippine Delegation is made up of YSF scholars, students, climate activists, CSO and NGO representatives.
For RENDER, participation in the Youth Sustainability Forum 2024 was not just a learning opportunity but a critical step in building capacity and refining strategies for future climate initiatives. The forum reinforced RENDER’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of climate leaders by equipping our interns with the knowledge and skills needed to lead youth-driven strategies in the sustainability landscape, specifically in the renewable energy and climate mitigation landscapes. The experience will undoubtedly shape future projects of RENDER and deepen its engagement in pushing the climate agenda forward within ASEAN.
