The Philippines has been identified for its major offshore wind (OSW) energy potential, and as more developed visions of actualizing this potential take shape with enhanced permitting policies and regulatory frameworks implemented to aid in the development of OSW projects, additional attention is needed in the promotion of knowledge surrounding the potential implications and complications of developing offshore wind energy in the Philippines.
This review, written by undergraduate interns from the University of the Philippines Los Baños and Ateneo de Manila University, explores the ecological, socioeconomic, and regulatory considerations surrounding the current ninety-two offshore wind energy service contracts declared by the Department of Energy.

Uilizing a number of cases, including those from the Philippines, Taiwan, and Scotland, this review seeks to generally contribute to the knowledge available in this increasingly relevant field of study, exploring the relationship between existing frameworks and the current direction of OSW projects in the Philippines.
