Under the Manila Observatory, Tonichi is the Assistant Director of Climate Projects and Research of the Klima Center. He develops projects in the field of climate mitigation and loss and damage. 

A recipient of the U.S. State Department’s International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP), his research interests are in international climate policy, energy & ecology issues, as well as non-economic L&D.

Tonichi also sits as Vice-Chair of the board of directors for Care About Climate, a global capacity-building organization working on NDC equity within the UNFCCC.
